Reckoning

The Reckoning is a newer design with this being the third iteration. While the blade profile is similar to the Taipan that’s where the similarities end. The Reckoning has a 7 inch blade from tip to ricasso. The blade is 50mm wide and forged from 1/4 inch thick 80CRV2 High Carbon steel. 80CRV2 while maintaining a high carbon content of 0.8% also has added Vanadium and Chromium. The Chromium content is small but does offer some additional hardness and the Vanadium adds to grain refinement. What this does in terms of blade performance is pin the grain boundaries, the grain like sand if to large enhances brittleness which leads to breaking. Vanadium stops the grain growing to large and adds toughness, additionally it aids edge retention enabling more cuts between sharpening.

The Reckoning has a distally tapered blade making it strong but lighter and the addition of a fuller on both sides of the blade add more strength and also reduce the weight further. The distal taper begins at the Ricasso and extends to the tip. The bevels are convex ground creating an edge geometry that is both robust and sharp but quite easy to resharpen.

The Reckoning comes with a full Leather sheath designed for hip carry on either left or right hip, and can be removed from the frog without the need of removing your belt.

The Handle grips are stabilised and dyed and stabilised Curly Birch (Black) and stabilised Spalted Flame Elder, set onto Red G10 liners. The grips are held with 2 Stainless steel pins and 1 Black  G10 pin.
