DROP BEAR

The Drop Bear is an Aussie Icon. Related to the Koala they can appear cute and cuddly until they snap then they are capable of much damage. My recently departed best mate many times told me I should call one of my designs the “Drop Bear” so better late than never this one if for you Rohan.

Drop bear is a 4.5 inch San Mai ( 3 layer) full tang blade knife. The core layer is 80CRV2 HC steel with an overlay of 15N20 HC steel on both sides . This is what gives the unique pattern to the blade. The process of revealing the pattern involves an acid dip which reveals the transition of the 2 steels. Normally any oxides that build up on the bright outer layers are removed, but in this case i decided to leave them to give a unique look to the blade. The handle Grips are Stabilised Black Mulga, a dense and hard Australian timber, and Stabilised Pheasant wood and are set onto Black G10 liners. The Grips are held with 2 Black G10 pins and a OD Green Lanyard tube.

Drop Bear comes with a hand crafted  leather sheath with a Red Kangaroo fur on overlay. designed to be carried on the hip left or right handed.

The blade steel combination is subject to change as to is the handle material.
